When you're
out and about Seattle, looking for that special place to settle in with
some good food, this is the café to look for, right on Eastlake. Here
you can just sit with a cup of coffee or a latté, hang out a while, and
get to know the locals. There is nothing pretentious here. We don't mind
if you shove a few tables together to gather your friends around for lunch.
We make honest, comfort food...yes, the kind your mom probably made and
you wish she still did.
We're a "Mom and Pop" operation. There's Michael Mooney and there's Luise Mooney. Michael runs the kitchen, does the books and rounds out the ambiance with his gentle demeanor. Luise runs the front with chipper energy and good humor, and makes sure the customers stay in line. We have about 20 wonderful helpers on the payroll. They are a hard-working crew and do the slicing, dicing, cooking, baking, serving and washing up. Come and get to know us!
We know our regulars and neighbors, and our regular out-of-towners like family. We miss them when they leave, and we welcome them back when they visit. This is home away from home.
Our food, from the baked goods to the soups, salads and hot entreés, is all made from scratch. We make our own stocks: chicken, beef, veggie...none of that comes from a can. We use only the freshest and best ingredients. Bakery items are made with real butter, quality chocolate, real eggs, quality oats, and real vanilla. We bake everything at night for the next morning, and any leftovers are still good as day olds. The early morning smells of coffee, pastry and hot off the griddle entreés at the café are delectable!
We make our own corned beef for breakfast, and crack the eggs first thing in the morning for the omelettes. The oatmeal is cooked to order. People come from far and wide just for the oatmeal! Our quiches are the best. Lunch will find you choosing between three kinds of soups, hot entreés, or sandwiches, as well as an array of prepared salads. Of course the sandwiches come on our very own home-baked bread. We also cater at the café on evenings or weekends for meetings, parties or special dinners. Our space accommodates 50 people, and we can provide a completely catered dinner, desserts, or food for any occasion. Please just call ahead, and we will take care of you!
